Irregular Periods

Irregular menstrual cycles refer to variations in timing, duration, or flow of periods. Causes can range from stress and lifestyle changes to underlying hormonal imbalances or thyroid dysfunction. Diagnosis typically involves a medical history review, blood tests, and ultrasound. Treatment depends on the cause and may include hormonal therapy, lifestyle adjustments, or management of underlying conditions.

Polycystic Ovary Disease (PCOD)

PCOD is a condition where the ovaries produce immature or partially matured eggs, leading to multiple small cysts. This can disrupt the menstrual cycle and cause symptoms like weight gain, acne, and excessive hair growth. Treatment is aimed at regulating the menstrual cycle, balancing hormones, and addressing insulin resistance through medication, diet, and exercise.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

PCOS is a hormonal disorder that affects how the ovaries work. It is characterized by irregular periods, high levels of androgens, and polycystic ovaries. Women with PCOS may also face issues like insulin resistance and increased risk of metabolic syndrome. Management focuses on controlling symptoms and preventing complications through lifestyle changes, hormonal treatment, and regular monitoring.

Uterine Fibroids

Fibroids are benign muscle tumors of the uterus that can vary in size and number. While some fibroids cause no symptoms, others may lead to heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, and pressure symptoms. Diagnosis is usually made via ultrasound or MRI. Treatment options include medication to control bleeding and pain, or surgical interventions like myomectomy or hysterectomy for larger or symptomatic fibroids.

Heavy Menstrual Bleeding (Menorrhagia)

Menorrhagia is characterized by abnormally heavy or prolonged menstrual periods. It can result from hormonal imbalances, fibroids, polyps, or bleeding disorders. Evaluation often includes blood work, imaging, and sometimes a biopsy to rule out serious conditions. Treatment depends on the cause and may involve hormonal therapy, antifibrinolytics, or surgical procedures like endometrial ablation.

White Discharge (Leukorrhea)

White vaginal discharge is common and often normal. However, if the discharge becomes excessive, has a foul smell, or is accompanied by itching or irritation, it may indicate an infection or imbalance in the vaginal flora. Causes can include bacterial vaginosis, yeast infections, or poor hygiene. Diagnosis is made through physical examination and laboratory tests. Treatment depends on the underlying cause and may involve antifungal or antibacterial medications.
